Financial Verification
Source of Wealth Verification
Source of Wealth review that helps organisations understand how a customer accumulated their overall wealth, complementing transaction-level Source of Funds checks with a broader picture of the customer's financial background.
What is Source of Wealth?
Source of Wealth asks: how did the customer accumulate their overall wealth? Possible sources include business ownership, employment, investments, property, inheritance, the sale of assets and dividends — in combination, these often explain a customer's total financial position.
Source of Funds vs Source of Wealth
The two questions are related but distinct. Source of Funds concerns the origin of the specific money in a particular transaction; Source of Wealth concerns how the customer's overall wealth was built. A customer with well-documented wealth can still be asked to evidence the origin of a specific transaction's funds — the checks serve different purposes.
Our Review
We review the documentation supporting the claimed wealth — business records, employment history, investment statements, property records, inheritance documentation — and assess whether the picture it paints is coherent. Findings state what is supported by evidence, what is partially supported, and what could not be verified.
